BREAST MASSES and cysts can be drained, biopsied or removed depending on the situation.

MICROCALCIFICATIONS are findings that can only be seen with x-ray studies (i.e. mammogram). They bring up the concern of a possible breast cancer and usually require surgery to biopsy the area through a tiny incision to make the diagnosis.

BREAST CANCER requires surgical resection if a cure is to be achieved. More often, breast surgery is performed along with breast conservation and reconstruction when medically appropriate.
